Fortniteâs Season 5 is now in full swing, with players across the multiplayer sandbox survival shooterâs supported platforms currently exploring all of the changes that have been brought to the title. Of course, there will always be some who are keen to learn about whatâs coming just around the bend for the free-to-play Battle Royale release. In fact, players recently dug through the Season 5 game files, and potentially discovered that a Limited Time Mode called Tactics Showdown is on the way.
As seen in the image below, Fortnite fans can get a gander at what appears to be a still for a new LTM, with a duel going down between two different players wielding a revolver and a pistol, respectively. While the actual contents of the picture isnât much evidence to go on, the datamined imageâs file name of âBR_LTM-Tile_Tactics-Showdownâ indicates that itâs a visual asset relating to the potential Playlist mode.
For those unaware, the Tactics Showdown LTM was actually leaked a while ago with the release of Fortniteâs Patch 4.4.0, with its description detailing the mode as one that âencourages tactical combat and building by putting a cap on the amount of resources and ammunition players can carry.â In addition to these gameplay stipulations, âPlayer-built structures also start off with less health than normal,â and even after taking down an opponent to snag their inventory, after âplayers are eliminated they will drop fewer resources than normalâ.
All things considered, should Epic Games be set to include the Tactics Showdown LTM into Fortnite Battle Royale soon, it sounds as if the mode would definitely ratchet up the difficulty for many players of the hybrid construction shooter. Nevertheless, we will simply have to wait and see what the studio has planned insofar as Fortniteâs new modes are concerned as Season 5 rolls along.
Fortnite is available now for Nintendo Switch, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
