Popular Overwatch Player Swatted Live on Stream?

Gamers familiar with the Overwatch League are likely familiar with Canadian competitive Overwatch player Felix “xQc” Lengyel who played for Dallas Fuel before mutually agreeing to part ways. During a recent match, it appears that xQc may have been swatted, a “prank” where another player calls the police on an opponent, which has resulted in deaths before.

However, it is worth mentioning the exact circumstances of the situation are unknown. While it appears to be a swatting incident, it seems the police could have also been responding to a noise complaint. This makes sense considering xQc is known for his overreactions, but then again, responding to a noise complaint with three guns drawn seems to be an even bigger overreaction to the Overwatch player’s well-known antics.

Of course, some believe the police may have reacted in such a manner because they believed it was a domestic violence situation or because xQc didn’t respond immediately. As indicated by the video of the incident, however, xQc raised his hands as soon as he realized what was going on. Check it out below:

In a second video, xQc calls fellow Overwatch player aimbotcalvin and explains the situation as “a swat 100%.” If so, it wouldn’t be a big surprise, as big-time streamers such as Dr. Disrespect have been swatted in the past. However, it was later revealed by Brennon Hook that it was not a swatting attempt and, in fact, a noise complaint, at least according to management. Notably, there have been no arrests at the time of this writing, which should happen if it was indeed a swatting prank.

Hopefully, as Overwatch increases in popularity, swatting incidents do not. Although it seems that xQc ended his encounter with the police peacefully and may not have actually been swatted, it was still a situation that left the competitive player shaken up. Whether he was swatted or not, the important thing is that xQc is okay, which is something that should make the Overwatch community grateful.

Overwatch is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
