Just two days have passed since the release date of the battle royale sequel The Culling 2, and the development team behind the project, Xaviant Games, looks to be facing a pretty rough road ahead when it comes to the future. As a matter of fact, the studio has now openly addressed its concerns about what comes next, as the aforementioned title’s incredibly rocky launch has seemingly put the company’s very existence into doubt.
As seen in the tweet below, Xaviant Games took to its official Twitter account to state that since The Culling 2 has yet to improve insofar as players engaging with the title is concerned, the developer will have to “have some admittedly difficult discussions” regarding its future. As of now, however, there’s no telling what exactly the company is considering when it comes to any of its options moving forward.
It’s time for us here at Xaviant to come together for some much needed soul searching and to have some admittedly difficult discussions about the future of our studio.
We’ll talk soon.

For those who have been out of the loop, The Culling 2 has experienced a truly poor launch since it came out rather unexpectedly earlier this week, with barely anyone actually playing the battle royale sequel. To illustrate this point, Steam Charts, which provides an ongoing analysis of Steam’s concurrent players, is currently showing that as of writing, the highest amount of people who have engaged with the title within the last 24-hours is 4 players.
Taking this situation into account, the future of Xaviant Games doesn’t look bright, as The Culling 2 likely won’t be able to find its footing during the course of this battle royale craze that continues to trend within the gaming community and world at large. To be fair, though, The Culling 2 isn’t the only title that failed to hold its own in a marketplace led by the likes of Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, as the dwindling interest in Cliff Bleszinski’s Radical Heights actually led to the closure of Boss Key Productions. At any rate, we will just have to wait and learn the fate of Xaviant Games.
The Culling 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
